Building the store for Blackwater Java

The brief

Blackwater Java needed an online store that could carry the same personality as their physical brand — warm, specialty, no-nonsense — while handling the practical realities of shipping coffee: subscriptions, variants (grind type, bag size), and a catalog that would keep growing.

The approach

We built the storefront on WooCommerce, which gave Blackwater Java a platform their own team can manage day-to-day — adding products, running promotions, and fulfilling orders — without needing a developer for routine changes. On top of that foundation, we focused on the details that matter for a food and beverage brand specifically: clear variant selection, fast page loads (nobody wants to wait on a coffee site), and a checkout flow with as few steps as possible between "add to cart" and "order confirmed."

What we delivered

A subscription and one-time purchase setup covering multiple grind types and bag sizes, a product catalog structured to keep growing without becoming unwieldy, and a streamlined checkout the client's team could hand off to us for changes or manage themselves.
